Dear reader, My name is Heather, an aspiring polyglot and linguistics graduate plagued with the best kind of disease a girl can get, The Wanderlust. My blog is divided mainly into two parts:
a) The Italian Narrative: my life in Italy as an au pair b) Linguistic Musings: news, facts, and general information on languages and linguistics
I hope you will join me on my adventures -- I would sure love the company!
An au pair is usually a young lady (young men are occasionally accepted) aged 18 - 30 who spends a set amount of time taking care of kids of a busy family. In simple terms, an au pair is a long term babysitter! On average, au pairs receive 90 euros a week in pay, and do not have to cover board or food. The only financial obligation the au pair has is to pay for language classes. Becoming an au pair is a great idea for anyone who loves kids and desires to live abroad but does not have the financial means of doing so.

Haha, I guess that means I could pass for an Italian! (In fact, I did pass for one the other day when I eavesdropped on a conversation between two British ladies who were walking along the street. Very funny.)
Hi Kitty - are you a new visitor, or someone I know? :)
